In keeping with Mercator Group’s strategy of de-risking its business model, Mercator Limited entered the global dredging market in 2007. With an ownership of 5 Trailer Suction Hopper Dredgers & 1 Cutter Suction Dredger fitted with technologically advanced machinery, these dredgers are capable of providing the best service to all ports for accelerating their development initiatives. These THSD dredgers have capacities ranging from 4,500 m3 to 7,000 m3.
Mercator has executed large projects since its entry into the dredging segment in 2006-07.
Currently the dredgers are deployed at various projects for carrying out capital & maintenance dredging projects. We have a rich experience of executing dredging projects both in the Indian coast and abroad. Some of our key projects include:
- Capital dredging at Palk Strait of Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project
- Capital dredging at Taipei Port, Taiwan
- Capital dredging in Karaikal Port
- Deepening of approach channel at Paradip Port
- Naval Dockyards, Mumbai
- Maintenance Dredging at Paradip Port
Mercator has also been approached by well established and leading civil construction companies for forming strategic alliances and asset pooling arrangements on long term basis. The company is also shoring up resources for placing ‘firm orders’ to build dredgers that suit the port’s requirements.
With the government aggressively realigning its strategy to meet the time bound goals of the National Maritime Development Programme for modernization and expansion of port capacities, Mercator is gearing up to become a dominant player in the dredging segment.
